Meet the Team: Emily Lowes, Business Development Executive

Our ‘Meet the Team’ series takes an inside look into the lives of our student marketing experts. From their career journey so far, to their go-to student meal, get to know Raptor HQ!

How long have you worked at Raptor?:
Coming up to 8 months!

What is your career story so far?:
While I was at university I worked as a brand ambassador for Bumble and Candy Kittens, which involved planning parties and activations at my uni as well as traveling nationally to represent the brands.

I was keen to enter marketing once I graduated, particularly in the brand activation sector. My journey with Raptor actually started with Pot Noodle, as I went through the Pot Noodle Alternative Careers Fair and ended up working on an internship with the Pot Noodle Team, and then with Raptor.

Fast forward 7 months on, I’m now working full time at Raptor!

What is your role and what you responsible for?:
As Business Development Executive, my role works closely with our Managing Director Dave to build up connections with potential new clients, scouting out the most relevant student brands and getting the word out about Raptor!

In my day to day, my work varies from pitching to new clients, managing our social media channels and finding new ways to build the Raptor brand. I also help support the Tinder account, currently working on an exciting Tik Tok campaign!

What is the best part of your role?:
I love that every day I’m working on something new, when you’re constantly busy with new and exciting projects – it doesn’t feel like work!

What is your dream brand to work with?:
My dream brand to work with would definitely be Patagonia. I’m a big advocate of sustainability, and their brand purpose of using business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis is something I strongly believe in!

What is your wildest moment from your days as a student?:
While I can’t give all my secrets away, my 21st birthday party did get quite rowdy – resulting in a few missing teeth.

What was your go-to student meal?:
My go-to student meal was definitely a Taka Taka (Chicken Gyros) after a night out, you can’t beat night out food.

What series are you currently binging on?:
My housemate and I are currently binging on LOST. With 6 seasons to go, we’re hoping that by the time we’ve finished, lockdown will have ended so that we can go to the pub!

What is your secret talent?:
My secret talent is definitely my cocktail making abilities – I make a mean Strawberry Daiquiri
