Our ‘Meet the Team’ series takes an inside look into the lives of our student marketing experts. From their career journey so far, to their go-to student meal, get to know Raptor HQ!
Meet Séamus, our Head of Client Services and resident musician, who has been part of the Raptor family for three and a half years!
What is your career story so far?:
I actually started my marketing career (a long time ago!) at Westminster City Council, working in the Communications Department before making the jump across to agency life after 2 years as a very green Account Executive. I then made a conscious effort to zig zag from agency to agency, to climb the Account Management ladder (minus a brief foray into client-side Property Marketing) until I reached Account Director and then Business Director level. At this point, I began to really focus on experiential and events as a speciality.
My next move was to take a role as Head of Experiential at a global advertising agency that afforded me the opportunity to understand how experiential, TV and Shopper Marketing work together – further understanding ever changing consumer purchase behaviours. However, after a year in this role, the lure of working with my long-time friend and colleague David, proved too much and that’s when I made the move to Raptor and all things student – I’ve never looked back.
What is your role and what you responsible for?:
I’m one of the agency Directors with my day-to-day role being Head of Client Services. I oversee the Account Management team ensuring we’re on-point when it comes to responding and answering client briefs, following process as well as spotting areas of potential account growth. I also work closely David (MD) and the New Biz team on pitch responses and managing team resource to ensure we create that winning proposal.
What is the best part of your role?:
First and foremost, getting to work with a truly creative team with a fantastic work ethic. Seeing the initial seed of a concept germinate into pitch proposal, through to a full-scale, multi-channel campaign that in turn helps the agency grow it’s experience as a whole has to be the highlight of my role.
What is your dream brand to work with?:
Liverpool FC, although I’m not sure the rest of the agency would agree!
What is your wildest moment from your days as a student?:
Now there’s a question…not much that I can put in print! Probably taking part in the Chunder Mile. I genuinely thought I was going to die on the final lap.
What was your go-to student meal?:
Pot Noodle (available from most retail outlets)
What series are you currently binging on?:
ZeroZeroZero. Gloriously dark.
What is your secret talent?:
I play guitar and write music but that’s not very secret…err….I can juggle and make a noise like a kazoo?!
Describe working at Raptor in three words:
