The Virtual Alternative Careers Fair

Requirement

In November 2019, we produced a series of Alternative Careers Fairs for Pot Noodle. The Fairs brought together students, companies and guest speakers with a view to inspire and enable students to break free from the traditional 9-5 grind and experience a role that was a little less conventional. The events were really well received and amazingly inspired over 200 students to take the plunge and apply for one of the internships. Following the success of the events, we had a further 3 planned, but due to the onset of COVID-19 had to quickly adapt and shift our thinking towards creating a virtual alternative for students to enjoy from the safety of their sofas.

Response

The Virtual Alternative Careers Fair uses the latest AR technology to showcase 11 incredible internships from a range of unconventional companies, including Playstack games, Vita Coco and FruitLab. To participate, students are prompted to tap-to-place the 3D careers fair scene within their surroundings, transforming the area around them into a fully interactive virtual experience. Once in the experience, students discover more about each role by viewing a short video from each employer, and if a role appeals they click out to apply via our recruitment partner GradBay.

Results

The results for this campaign were staggering and we comfortably surpassed our targets mid-way through. On top of receiving stacks of positive PR coverage, the feedback from students, Universities and Pot Noodle has been amazing.
