PROJECT

On Campus MCR

THE BRIEF

Help students to discover their style with Depop. Establish Depop as the go-to place for students to discover and experiment with style for a price they can afford (buy), but also make money on their own terms (sell).

OUR RESPONSE

Fashion is a means by which Gen-Z express their identity and form communities. Therefore we wanted to bring to life the diverse nature of fashion through our campaign with Depop. We aimed to build a unique community among Gen-Z who could share their passion for self-expression, in a way that felt fitting to Depop and natural to the audience.

We curated a bespoke zine alongside a team of student photographers, designers and Depop sellers. The printed zine incorporated a mixture of street-captured style within Manchester alongside profiles of each of our student sellers to bring to life the varying and diverse fashion that Manchester students were wearing. Distributed in key student hotspots, the magazine allowed for students to discover and experiement with their style, whilst being linked directly to the styles shown in the zine to shop on Depop.

To further cement Depop's presence within the audience - we opened the immersive Depop Market MCR. Vibrant venue Hatch played host to 26 sellers. And a lot of students, who could shop independent vintage, or eat, drink and soak up local musical talent. The sellers had the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and grow their audiences across Instagram and Depop. The sellers saw significant increase in the number of sales they made on the day, and post-event, as their audiences grew.
